Your Questions About Pain Between Shoulder Blades After Eating

Ken asks…

Pain between my shoulder blades?

I have had pain between my shoulder blades for about six months now. The pain ranges from moderate to severe and occurs at different times throughout the day. It seems to happen most often after I have eaten. Does anyone know what this could be a symptom of?

I am a healthy 22 year old female.

admin answers:

Aaaaahhh I can tell you exactly what you have.
Because I have it too ….and finally went to the Dr
with it.
You have “acid reflux” or GERDS.
You should go out and buy yourself some Zantac.
You can go to the Dr and get all the testing …but
I am sure it will be the same.

John asks…

what do you do if your having chest pains after eating?

my father is having chest pain after eating and he is lying on the couch right now praying and in serious pain round the chest and he’s askin us to press his back between his shoulder blades

he is 47 and i dont kno if this is a sign of age or jus a symptom of some type im his 13 year old son and i doknt kno wut 2 du does anybody have an answer

admin answers:

David,
If your father is experiencing chest pain and it has never happened before, he needs to be seen by a doctor as soon as possible. The best solution to the problem is to call 911 and have paramedics take him to the hospital. Anytime somebody says that they are having chest pain, it needs to be taken very seriously, it could be a sign of a serious medical emergency.

Lisa asks…

Still have same symptoms after gallbladder surgery anybody else?

I’m 5 days after gallbladder surgery, I’ve been very careful what I eat. Today I drank a small amount of coffee/decaf with non dairy creamer and about 2 hrs later I had the same old symptoms, belching ,sharp stabbing pain between my shoulder blades and abdominal pain , anybody else have their symptoms not change after surgery?

admin answers:

I think it’s too early after surgery for you to expect your pain to have gone. Belching is not due to gall bladder disease so that is not likely to get better.
Of course it is possible that your symptoms were due to a hiatus hernia or something else but give it some time before you look for other things.

William asks…

Stomach pains.. Think it’s gallbladder. HELP.?

Hello!! Ok so for the past month or so, I have been having severe abdominal cramping, bloating, and a full feeling. I also feel worse after eating, especially junk food or fatty foods. I am nauseous 24/7 and sometimes, I can’t keep my food down. My tummy is usually flat, but it’s poking out like I am a few months pregnant. But I am definitely not pregnant, I know for a fact!

Anyways, I went to the ER rigth when it started happening because it was freaking me out. They did tests on my liver, gallbladder, and all other organs in my tummy. Liver was fine, they said my enzymes were like that of a child. And my gallbladder came back normal to. Well I got referred to get an upper endoscopy and it came back that I have a small hiatal hernia. Since it’s small, it shouldn’t be giving me too many problems.

A lot of people in my family have gallbladder issues, and my great grandmothers have had them out and my grandmother needs hers out too. I have read through countless forums and articles and my symptoms match up pretty well with gallbladder issues.. I also read that your ultrasound will come back fine because all that will tell is if there’s gallstones. I am really confused and waiting for the doctor to set up a hida scan for me.

I am in a lot of pain right now, but don’t want to be doped up on pain meds because I know that many teenagers and adults get hooked on them and I don’t want that happening to me. I don’t know what to do though because I don’t think the hospital can do anything more for me since I am waiting for that hida scan.. I have also been experiencing chest pain and my chest hurts like there’s bruises on it even though I don’t have any. It hurts to push on it. And sometimes, my arm bothers me. Also some back pain between my shoulder blades on the rigth side.

Anways, I guess what I am asking is if you could share yours or your family’s gallbladder issues, symptoms, and experiences with me and tell me if this sounds like I have something wrong with my gallbladder. I’ll list my symptoms again as well.

Stomach bloating
Diahreeah
Nausea
Pain in my chest and arm
Loss of appetite
Upper right abdominal pain and tenderness
My stomach is very hard when you press (not constipated)
Uncomfortable back pain between my shoulder blades

Wheeeew. That’s a lot. I really appreciate anybody who reads this and responds to me.
Thanks so much.

admin answers:

It does sound very much like a gall bladder problem. I had all the same symptoms and had my gall bladder removed 8 years ago.

Mandy asks…

Heartburn, back pain and vomiting during pregnancy?

Hello everyone. I’m looking for a little bit of advice. Last night I went to bed around 1130 with a headache. It wasn’t anything bad, just a bit of a nuisance and enough to make it difficult to fall asleep. At around 1:30 I woke up with terrible back pain in my upper back between my shoulder blades. There was also a rush of heartburn that seemed to come out of nowhere. I got up to sit on the couch in hopes that sitting up would make it better. But, as soon as I did I immediately had to throw up. After I threw up the heartburn seemed to go away, but the back pain has persisted to a lesser degree than when it first started throughout the course of the morning today. I can’t really think of anything that I did differently yesterday other than I ate dinner later than I normally do because I had a meeting until late last night. I only threw up once and I didn’t feel the need to again after that. Baby Cameron has been moving around a lot and he seems to be fine. I’m feeling a lot better other than the pain between my shoulder blades. I know that this isn’t a gallbladder thing because I had my gallbladder removed over three years ago. I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this. I’m hoping that it’s an isolated incident and not something that’s going to happen again. I’m just looking for some advice, and wondering if any of you have been through this. I apologize for the gross details of the story, but I really appreciate your help. I am 23 weeks pregnant and this is my first baby so my experience is limited. Thank you all!
I have looked up things online about pregnancy symptoms… I just wanted to hear other people’s experiences, and to know if anyone else had been through it. I haven’t had caffeine for years so I know it’s not that, and I never eat fried food. I just haven’t had any heartburn thus far in my pregnancy at all, and to have such a crazy incident the first time took me by surprise.

admin answers:

Heartburn is a killer…. Mine has gone away alot since I cut out caffeine and greasy food. It really helps! Alway make sure your drinking plenty of water!

Charles asks…

Can anybody provide me with a list of gallbladder issue symptoms? Greatly appreciated..?

I have been experiencing the following symptoms..
Extremely bloated stomach that feels hard on the upper right side
Sharp pain that comes and goes on upper right side
Constant nausea and sometimes vomiting
Pain after eating certain foods (high in fat, hot dogs, anything greasy)
Mulitcolored stools (gross, i know)
Chest pain that leaves my chest sore to touch afterwards
No fever but sometimes feeling very warm to touch
Back pain between my shoulder blades mostly to the right
EXTREMELY dry skin on my upper stomach. (i don’t know if that has anything to do with it.)

I have been to the ER once with this problem. Had an ultrasound that came back negative for gall stones and was referred to GI dr. Had upper endoscopy and found small hiatal hernia. I am awaiting another dr to set up hida scan but the attacks have been getting much worse and more frequent.

Is there anything they can do for me at the hospital without the hida scan? I am just looking for a list of symptoms from somebody who has experienced gallbladder disease or family members who have. I appreciate it so much. I am so helpless and hopeless… I can’t eat a lot and feel malnourished because I am restricted to what I can eat.

Thank you so much for anybody who takes the time to respond.

Your Questions About Upper Back Pain When Breathing

Lizzie asks…

upper back pain when breathing in?

hello, i woke up this morning with a pain near the top of my back, it hurts when i breath in, but is worse if i breathe in deeply, any ideas what it could be? i havnt injured my back recently, im 20, and in secondary school i had back and neck problems, but not the same as this pain. i wondered if anyone knows what it could be, rather than going to the doctors just yet. thanks, ciara.

admin answers:

To me it sounds like a chest infection, see a doc because if it is you will need anti biotics.

Sandra asks…

Upper right back pain when breathing?

… It’s more when I breathe a bit deep. It started happening about 5-10 minutes ago. I was slouching in my chair on the side. I don’t know if that’s why.
The pain seems to decrease when I sit up straight, but it still hurts.
I’m only 13 years old.
Not when I sit up, when I lean over. Sorry.

admin answers:

Acid indigestion? Eat smaller meals.

Thomas asks…

Strange pain/tightness in upper back, trouble breathing when eating?

Ok so I have this weird problem and I have no idea what causes it. It has been going on for a few years now.

Often when I eat I get an intense tightness in my back and I have trouble breathing. This will last for several minutes and is quite painful. It also causes nausea. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

admin answers:

Sounds like a pulled muscle, have you lifted anything heavy recently ? The signs that you are describing is exactly this. I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack because of the same symptoms that you are describing and thought I was having one !
But all in all they checked everything and it ended up being a pulled muscle in my chest area from cleaning the bathroom one day- did not realize that I reached high and it pulled the chest muscle out of whack !
Good luck
Would not get too concerned unless it does not go away but mine stayed for a long time- about a month and a half ! That’s how bad it was

Joseph asks…

Upper back pain & difficulty breathing?

So im a 13 y.o girl and on Monday when I was at school, I was playing around and I suddenly heard this “click” sound in my spine and from then on i’ve been in pain in my upper right back. I’ve also been waking up every night in pain. In the morning it hurts even more and I have troube breathing. So my mum took me to the chriopracter Wednesday and he did sh!t. In fact, he actually made it worse, I woke up that night in SEVERE pain and I couldnt sit up or anything and I couldnt breathe either. So I took a day off school on Thursday as I could hardly get out of bed. (not exaggerating) It still hurts today and I cant twist around or anything and when I sit down I feel pain, what could this be? I do gymnastics as well if this helps?

admin answers:

Dont get me wron i love chiropactors ive used them before but it sounds like you need to see a real Dr. Not a chiropractor. Look for an orthopedic Dr or a spine specialist in your area, get xrays done.

James asks…

Upper back pain when I breathe deeply?

For the past couple of days, I’ve had back pain just below my right shoulder when I breathe deeply. It’s not severe, and it feels kind of like a kink in the neck would. I tried massaging it out, but now it just hurts a little bit more. I highly doubt it’s anything serious, but I’m really curious as to what it is and how to fix it.

admin answers:

It’s most likely a rib or thoracic vertebrae that’s out of place. My first recommendation is to see a chiropractor: http://www.ctbackdr.com

Also, try stretching by holding onto somthing sturdy, like a pole or doorway and then leaning back.

Tempur Pedic Swedish Neck Pillow help neck pain?

Hi,
I have been suffering from neck pain on and off for a couple months now. I was wondering if anyone has tried this pillow and if they have had good results?

Thanks!

admin answers:

Neck rolls help to properly position a healthy neck in order to keep it that way. If your neck hurts get a massage from a qualified massage therapist and or go to the chiropractor so he can do an adjustment.

Joseph asks…

I have Neck Pain A lot when I sleep whats the Best Tempurpedic Pillow For that?

I’m not a old person and I kinda tall and normal weight but anyway I got this tempurpedic Neck pillow large size and my neck still hurts at night.

What do you think is the Best Tempurpedic Pillow to sleep on?

admin answers:

Memory foam that has the support for your neck and head are best I’ve seen from experience> I would check those out and if that specifies it helps your neck to ling up best I’d try using that then.
They sell them at many stores, from a big lots to a walmart. Look in the bedding/houseware section.

Helen asks…

Does anyone hear have a neck pain which maybe chronic and do you know anything about neck pillow?

I have recently been advised by physio that I need to use a neck pillow to get relief from my neck pain. I tried to google and find if this product is available here in Hyderabad, Indian but couldn’t find any shop where it is available. Does anybody use this neck pillow or any other type of pillow which helps in neck pain relief?

admin answers:

A neck pillow is a specially designed pillow made to help support the neck. Helping to restore or maintain the normal neck cure is important in relieving neck pain and neck muscle spasm.

More information can be found at http://www.arc4life.com

They ship to India but the pillow is made and sold in the U.S.

Mandy asks…

Does anyone know anything about neck pillows for pain and migraines?

I am a long time sufferer of migraines and severe neck pain. I need a travel neck pillow (for the car and for work) does anyone have any recommendations regarding brands or types?
Thanks so much

admin answers:

Your best bet is a well-designed neck pillow and if you use it regularly. Http://www.sunshine-pillows.com It is designed by a doctor. The design was so scientific, it is now endorsed by Relax The Back and chiropractors. You may find it online at http://www.sunshine-pillows.com or Relax the Back stores nationwide. They also offer different sizes according to your neck size. As a result, the support is more adequate for your purpose.

Lizzie asks…

Whats the best pillow to buy for neck pain?

I usually sleep with two pillows and there both really old and flat, the last few mornings when i wake up my neck and head are killing me. Anyone know what kind of pillows are good to help this, and i dont really want to spend to much!
Thanks!

admin answers:

The best pillows are solid foam latex. They have little air holes in them to keep them fresh and allow air to circulate. They are a little more expensive-$40-50 US, but you can find them on sale for less at department stores like Elder-Beerman or Kohl’s. These pillows provide comfortable neck and head support, never lose their shape and literally last for years and years. It is truly worth the money, as you will save $ on other things like meds/treatment for the sore neck and head.

Also, make sure your back and shoulders are covered when you sleep to cut down on morning soreness from drafts.

Feel better

Question by Justin S.: What are some commonweal workout to assist with dorsum hurting between the enarthrosis blade?
I’ve had pain off and on in the area of my mediate upper back between my enarthrosis blades for a while now…what are the effort exercises to do to assist strengthen that area of the back to make it less susceptible to repetition injury? Part of the problem I think is the fact that I’ve been told I have some scoliosis in my spine which must make me favour a certain side during cardio/raising, causing the hurting.
